How it all began…

From the moment I knew I was pregnant for the first time, I suddenly became aware of my body in a way I had never experienced before. I became acutely conscious of what I was putting into my body and what I was applying to my skin.

I began to pay more attention and delve into research, and a whole new world opened up to me.

I discovered that the average person knows very little about nutrition. I became particularly aware of the significant difference between processed food and natural nutrition, the long and often chemical ingredient lists, and their effects on the human body. This applies to both what goes inside and what we apply externally. My view of the world began to shift, and I realized I had to take responsibility for caring for myself and, in turn, the new life growing inside me.

I became that person in the supermarket who spends ages reading every ingredient list on products. Apart from food, I did the same with face cream, body cream, shampoo, etc. Many care products contain hormone disruptors, and it just so happens that cosmetics are something we women are particularly drawn to. During our vacation in Morocco, I visited my husband’s birth village, Kelaa M’Gouna, in the famous Rose Valley with my family. There, my interest in natural cosmetics was piqued by the beautiful roses incorporated into them. The roses grow in a magnificent valley with fertile reddish-brown soil, benefiting from the glorious sun that shines for an average of 10 hours a day.

I discovered the magic of organic roses… and I fell in love. I was captivated by the sensations of the rose scent present in every product. Rosewater, essential rose oil, masks, rosebuds that you can use in so many ways – I wanted it all!

To share this true treasure with other women who are also conscious of their bodies and love skincare, Norena Cosmetics had to be born. And voilà, here you are on this site. Since the source is a unique place on Mother Earth, and with a focus on preserving nature, the goal is obviously not mass production, but rather to cater to the self-aware woman who prefers to treat her skin with the best that nature has to offer.

Why ‘Norena’ when my name, Ouarda, means ‘Rose’ in Arabic? Norena is a blend of the names of my daughters, Noor and Sakeena. Through them, my perspective on the body, women, and the world has changed. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without them, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
